My Black is NOT Cracking.

Well, it looks like I’m going to see another birthday this week.  Another year gone by.  And what a year it was! This time last year I was hanging out with my cousin in NYC having a ball.  I left NY and headed to New Orleans.  Yup.  I was in the first two hot beds for Covid just weeks before the outbreaks were reported, and the country shut down. 

I waited until after Mardi Gras because I knew that would be too much for me, but I also arrived just as it started to spread. I’m sure as a result of Mardi Gras!  It seems I dodged not one bullet, but two!  I guess I’m supposed to be here and I’m grateful for that. 

I made it and a whole lotta folks did not!  I must focus on the positive.  I’m still here and all things considered, in decent condition.  I will continue to work on the things I know I can control! 

In all honesty, I still struggle with age related changes.  While I don’t avoid mirrors, I do try not to look into one wearing my glasses!  The upside of aging eyes appears to be the inability to see the new lines, wrinkles, grays, stache, and missing eyebrows!  I think my oval face that somehow became square bothers me most!  Of course, come summer, it will be the thighs, but those I can hide! 

That being said, I’ve made a decision.  After we get past this and masks are no longer required, I’m going to keep wearing mine!!!!  It hides all the things that bug me.  It hides the parenthesis!  The jowls. The mask hides the two bottom corners of my face!  It hides the developing turkey neck! 

I know.  Get over it, right?  I am a work in progress.  What can I say?

So, I took this week off from research and me and my square face are going to celebrate.  (Relax.  No parties!)

Every one of us that has been fortune enough to survive this mess had a “Covid” birthday.  It’s my turn and I’m making my wish!
