My Black is NOT Cracking.

I'm not Aging. I'm appreciating in value!

Well, 125 posts and over 6000 views ago, I decided to launch this blog to not only share the things that I had learned about healthy living and aging, but to share my experiences. (And to run my mouth without getting thirsty!) I was trying to figure out for myself how to feel better, both physically and emotionally.  I knew it was time to put those years of study into action.  I knew I wasn’t alone in my issues with aging. I also felt, well, what the hell good is it if you do the work to maintain health and vitality, if everyone around you falls apart?

I have always felt (and I have posted about this) that self-care is not selfish.  In fact, taking care of yourself is an act of love.  It demonstrates to your family and friends that you love them and you care.  And, that you want to avoid being a burden to them as a result of NOT caring.

Now, I’m not saying I’m the picture of health.  I’m still trying to get off BP meds. I’m otherwise in good shape, but heart disease is a serious matter.  I have really been working hard to manage stress; to take time for myself to decompress.  I learned that a positive attitude goes along way to alleviate stress.  Expecting a bad outcome is stressful.  BUT, if you learn to expect a good outcome, or believe that things will work out, stress melts away!

I’ve made improvements to my diet and started a meditation practice.  I could do better and I will, but it’s a start.  I have to work on that consistency thing! But rather than have my friends and family hear me nag and lecture, I thought blogging was a better approach.  I also hoped that by blogging, I could expand my reach and share my message with a larger audience.  It does take a lot of time. Some weeks, I think each post is the last.  Truthfully, I really would like to focus on some other projects with my limited free time. When I started this, we were in the midst of a pandemic and I had a lot more time on my hands!  But I can’t seem to sit still and just enjoy a cup of tea or coffee without finding something I want to write about and share.  So, I will keep going until I stop!

I want to thank my subscribers for caring about what I have to say and indulging me in my rants.  It is my hope that my readers find something useful, helpful, inspiring, (and when appropriate) funny, in each post.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m heading west to a beach for some much needed self-care! I had on a winter coat a few days ago, complete with gloves and a hat. AT THE END OF APRIL! I’m out of here!
